Welcome to the Building Maintenance Website
The McLennan County Maintenance Department is located at 216 N. 5th. St. Waco, TX.
The Department is under the supervision of Mr. Sam Sykora.
The Department employs seventeen employees, three of which work at Detention facilities
located away from the downtown headquarters. The Department's primary duties are
to maintain and repair the Electrical, Structural, HVAC, and Refrigeration at various
locations within the county boundaries. Over the past eight years, we have initiated
the use of computer controlled HVAC devices in our downtown buildings, our HWY 6
Jail facility, and currently making plans to add our Juvenile Detention Facility.
Our county buildings total around 1500 tons of air-conditioning, which is spread
out over fourteen acres of climate-controlled office and detention space.
Along with these standard duties the Department maintains all laundry and kitchen
equipment at these detention facilities, including food storage such as walk-in
freezers and walk-in coolers. The Department is also maintains and repairs the electric
and pneumatic security locks located with our detention systems. We replace about
three thousand light bulbs and two to three hundred florescent lighting ballasts
annually.
