There are currently phone calls being made in Texas and other states that appear to be from county officials reporting that persons have missed jury duty and threatening the person with arrest for failure to appear.
Although it is a violation of law to fail to appear for jury duty, the McLennan County District Clerk’s staff usually does not contact individuals who have failed to appear for jury duty except through personal appearance by appropriate court personnel with an official summons or writ of attachment. The District Clerk’s Office will never request your social security number, credit card information or other personal financial information. This is called “Phishing.”
