What type of numbering system do the probate records use?
The numbering system for McLennan County Probate Records changed in 1983, from a sequential system (1 through over 36,000) to a 6-digit system, which repeats each year, beginning with the last 2 digits of the year. It changed again in 2000, to include the entire year in the cause number. A separate numbering system for Guardianships cases was started in October of 1993.
