4. Where do I mail my child support payments?

You will either having to send your payment to the State Disbursement Unit or the McLennan County District Court. To learn more, please visit the Payments page.

5. To whom do I make my check payable?

Make your check payable to the payee or the person receiving the child support.

6. Who is the payor/payee?

The person making the payment is the payor or obligor. The person receiving the payment is the payee or obligee.

7. What methods of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, cashier's checks, money orders, Western Union checks, or company checks.

8. When will my payment be posted?

All payments posted by the McLennan County Child Support Office are processed within 48 hours of receipt, provided all the necessary information is included and the payment meets all our acceptance criteria.

9. When are payments sent out?

Payments processed by the McLennan County Child Support Office are sent out the next business day after they have been posted.

10. Can I get a record of all the payments I have made or a payment history printout?

11. Can I receive my child support check the same day the payment is made?

No, the checks are processed and mailed out by the next business day.

12. I sent my payment in with no cause number or account number, what do I need to do?

You can call us at 254-757-5057 and provide us your check number, amount of check, date of issue, payor, and payee's name, name on the check, and the number that it should be posted to. Once identified, it will then be processed to your account.

13. What if I receive a payment that is not my normal amount?

If you feel there is a possibility that the check is not yours, don't cash it. You should call the child support office at 254-757-5057 to have them research the payment to verify that the payment belongs to you.

14. What is your process for handling items returned by my bank?

You need to contact the payor if the check is a personal check or the employer is the check is written through a wage withholding order.

15. When is my payment considered late?

We are not an enforcement agency, therefore we cannot tell you when your payment is considered late. You should look on your court order or divorce decree to find out when your payment is due. If your case is handled by the Attorney General's Office, you can contact them regarding late payments at 254-754-5402.

16. How can I get my employer to automatically withdraw child support from my check?

After the judge has signed a wage withholding order, customers wanting the payor's wages withheld should contact our office. Then, fill out the required form and pay the fee for sending the wage withholding order to the employer. Please visit the Wage Withholdings page.
