1. What types of criminal cases are processed in the County Clerk's Office?: Class A and B misdemeanors and Class C misdemeanors if the case has been appealed from a lower court. (For McLennan County arrests).

3. Does the County Clerk's Office have information regarding tickets?: No, contact the agency (i.e. - Waco Police Department) that issued you the ticket or the Justice of the Peace if Department of Public Safety or Sheriff's Office issued ticket.

4. Does the County Clerk's Office have information regarding felonies?: No, contact the District Clerk's Office at 254-757-5054 for felony information.

5. Does the County Clerk's Office have information regarding Federal Court cases?: No, contact the U.S. District Court at 254-750-1501.

6. How do I obtain a statewide criminal background search?: Contact the Department of Public Safety Crime Records Service at 512-424-2600 or visit Texas Department of Public Safety.

7. Does the County Clerk provide Criminal Searches?: Yes, but criminal name searches are not done over the phone, unless you pre-pay by credit card. Criminal name searches only include McLennan County. Criminal searches are $5 per name. Criminal search letters are $5. Copies are $1 per page. Certified copies are an additional $5 per case. To request a criminal name search by mail, we will need a written request, which includes the name to search for and any identifiers (i.e.- Date of Birth), along with a cashier’s check or money order, and a return address and phone number.

8. What type of payments does the County Clerk's Office accept?: We accept Visa, Mastercard, cash, cashier’s check or money orders payable to McLennan County Clerk.

9. What type of cases are handled in the County Clerk's Office?: The County Criminal Courts handle A and B misdemeanors for McLennan County. Class C misdemeanors are only handled if the case has been appealed from a lower court. Contact the agency (i.e. – Waco Police Department) that issued you the ticket/citation or the Justice of the Peace if Department of Public Safety or Sheriff’s Office issued the ticket/citation. Felonies are handled in the District Clerk’s Office, they can be reached at 254-757-5054. For information on Federal court cases contact the U.S. District Court at 254-750-1501.

10. Does the County Clerk have information on court dates or court appointed attorneys?: No, contact the McLennan County Court Administrator at 254-757-5030.

11. How do I get cash bonds returned that I posted for a criminal case?: For more information on cash bond returns contact the County Clerk’s Civil Department at 254-757-5189.

12. Does the County Clerk offer a payment program for Court Costs and/or Fine?: No. A defendant must set up payment arrangements with the Judge at the time of conviction.
