Judge Ryan Luna was appointed to McLennan County Court at Law # 3 in June, 2021 by the McLennan County Commissioners’ Court, and elected to a full term in November, 2022. A native Texan, Judge Luna graduated from Baylor University with a B.B.A, and earned his law degree from Baylor Law School.
During law school, Judge Luna interned at the Texas Supreme Court for Justice Eva Guzman, clerked at the Texas Attorney General’s office, and worked for a legislator in the Texas House of Representatives. Upon graduation from law school, Judge Luna entered private practice handling civil matters on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. During his time in private practice, Judge Luna tried a number of jury trials and gained valuable experience in state and federal courtrooms across Texas. Judge Luna is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Bar College, Texas Supreme Court Historical Society, State Bar of Texas Judicial Section, McLennan County Bar Association, Judge Abner V. McCall Inn of Court, and a Lifetime Member of the Baylor Law Alumni Association.
Judge Luna is also involved in the community. He serves on the McLennan County Juvenile Board, Adult Probation Board, McLennan Bar Association Board, and the Caritas of Waco Board. He has also served as the pro bono legal clinic director at Mission Waco, served on the Waco Transit Advisory Board, the McLennan County Young Lawyers Association Board, and the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Central Texas Board. Judge Luna is also a proud graduate of Leadership Waco. Judge Luna and his wife, Genesis, have four children and they are members of First Baptist Church of Woodway.
